Observational Study

An Observational Study is a type of research in which investigators assess data without the manipulation of any variables. Observational Studies submitted to JBJS may examine clinical data or other topics related to orthopaedics, such as practice management, economics, or publishing.

Cohort, case-control, and cross-sectional studies should use the format suggested by the STROBE panel. Observational studies using routinely collected health data should use the guidelines outlined in the RECORD statement.
